SubtitlePolish.com takes English subtitles to their highest level of quality
by providing an in-depth analysis, edit, and adaptation for English-speaking audiences.
Our Mission is far larger: to ELIMINATE the phrase “I don’t like to read my movies.”
We’ve come a long way in embracing foreign-language films over the last 20 years, but as English-language tracks also continue to improve, it is increasingly urgent and important to offer viewers the exceptional experience that can only be adapted from the film’s original language.
The best kinds of subtitles are the ones you forget you’re reading.
Subtitles without stilted or incorrect language, awkward formatting, or needless errors. Subs that don’t take you out of the moment, but draw you further into the story. But without time, money, skills, and resources, many filmmakers and distributors have no choices beyond translation and spell-check.
Crystal Orren is a career-long film industry writer, editor, publicist, and marketing strategist who will take your translated script and craft an adaptation that speaks directly to your intended audiences. With more than 150 polished feature-length scripts in her portfolio (and growing!), her Mission is to elevate language in all its forms, but especially in the art and craft of film.
The Polished™ Advantage:
1.) Editorial Excellence for Optimal Experience: Done properly, subtitles should be as easy to as understand as spoken dialogue: technically in sync, compact and complete, and as true to the original translation as possible. Every line will be evaluated for brevity, consistency, and emotional impact without compromising plot, tone, or personality.
2.) Perfected for Context and Craftsmanship: Subtitles can be technically correct, but lack the quality and finesse required to touch an audience’s heart. Crystal takes the time and care to ensure her subtitles service the story’s complete narrative development. From overall structure to character arcs to scene-specific dialogue, your film’s artistic and dramatic intentions won’t get lost in translation.
3.) The Double-(Double)-Take Method: Crystal’s in-depth process for polishing subtitles includes four passes on your script:
–As a standalone piece of writing from beginning to end (with script notes but no edits)
–Broken down, reviewed, and edited on a scene-by-scene basis (with structure, character, and narrative flow in mind)
–Rebuilt and re-read from beginning to end (incorporating all edits and further line-flow adjustments for quick-read ease)
–And then, finally, backwards (to catch context-based grammar or spelling errors that might pass in a regular read)
If you have a completed feature available to watch, a fifth pass (an “eye-match edit”) is additionally available.
4.) Fast, Affordable, Consistent, and Clear: From initial contact through final delivery, Crystal will communicate directly with you on the status of your project. After a brief initial review, she will provide you with her analysis of the script, the needed level of processing, and when you can expect to get it back – all with the peace of mind that your script will return repaired, prepared – and always polished.
Words mean things. Let’s make them count.
